Homeless Liaisons
Every school district and charter school must designate an appropriate staff person as the homeless liaison. Homeless liaisons must be able to carry out the duties as required under the McKinney-Vento Act. The homeless liaison is the key to ensuring homeless children and youth receive the services they need and is the primary contact between homeless families, school and LEA staff, shelter workers, and other service providers. Below is a list of the staff member assigned to perform these duties for each local educational agency in Wisconsin.
Instructions for Updating Homeless Liaison Contact Information
Contact information for homeless liaisons is collected within the School Directory application.
- Have your WAMS user ID and password ready
- Go to DPI's Secure Home Information Page
- Under the heading “What is Secure Home?” click on the Secure Home link at the beginning of the first sentence
- After you enter your WAMS user ID and password, click on School Directory.
- When you get to the page with the photos, click on Log In to Application.
- The homeless liaison is listed at the bottom with the other district contacts.
- Once the contact information is updated in the School Directory, it may be 2-4 weeks before the updated information is reflected in the directory below.
