Toolkits & Resources

Ready-to-use resources for vetting tools, learning from Wisconsin-context case studies, aligning to DPI/national guidance, and communicating clearly with families.

AI screening & vetting rubric (support services)

Apply this checklist before pilots/purchases; emphasize human-in-the-loop and equity.

  • Privacy & security: Data minimization, encryption, deletion timelines, incident response.
  • Access controls: Role-based permissions, audit logs, authentication.
  • Equity & bias checks: Document training data; require bias reports by subgroup; enable staff overrides.
  • Accessibility & UDL: WCAG 2.2 AA; align to UDL checkpoints.
  • Interoperability: Standards-based export; consider FHIR for health flows.

Case studies (Wisconsin context)
  • Asthma alerting (School Nursing): Rules-based alerts + weekly huddles → 18% fewer early dismissals; 12% more Action Plans; parity after threshold tuning.
  • Attendance early-warning (Psych/Social Work): Simple model for Tier 2 triage + required overrides → faster outreach; chronic absenteeism down 3 pts; subgroup parity maintained.
  • Career exploration (Counseling): Interest/aptitude tool + reflection conferences → +27% planning meetings; more nontraditional dual-credit; higher perceived “fit.”
Case capture checklist: baseline → implementation notes → metrics (effectiveness, equity, safety) → student/family feedback → lessons learned → contract/threshold updates.

Notice of AI-Assisted Support (General)

Our student support team uses a digital tool to help identify when additional support may be helpful (for example, attendance patterns or health clinic visits). The tool reviews school records and suggests a human review by staff; it does not make decisions. Only authorized staff can view results. You may ask questions, request a meeting, or review your child’s information at any time.

  • Data used: (list categories; exclude social media/private messages)
  • Privacy: See FERPA
  • Contact: Provide staff contact and language access options.
Consent/Opt-In for Specific Tool (If required)

We request your permission to use [Tool Name] to support your child’s [area]. Staff always review the tool’s suggestions before action.

  • What it does: Briefly describe function and limits.
  • What data it uses: Only the items listed; no sale/advertising use.
  • Your options: Consent, ask questions, request an alternative process.
  • Languages/access: Translations and accessible formats available.
