LearnProfessional Overview

LearnProfessional is DPI's new learning management system (LMS) for schools, libraries, and districts. It provides a centralized source of training that school and library staff statewide complete throughout the school year.


Get Started

For 24/7 access to all available courses, you must first create a LearnProfessional account and complete your first login. Full instructions appear in the drop-down menus below.  

Register for a LearnProfessional Account
  1. Go to Wisconsin DPI Learn.
  2. Click Self-Registration Help.
  3. In the upper-right corner of the screen, click Register.
  4. Fill out the registration form.

Confirm Your Registration Request
  1. Check your email for a message from donotreply@email.learnprofessional.dpi.wi.gov that asks you to confirm your registration.
  2. Click the link that begins with https://learnprofessional.dpi.wi.gov/learn/user/confirm-registration/[...].

  3. Check your email for a message that confirms you have successfully registered. There is no action you need to take from this email.

Sign In to LearnProfessional

Web address, https://learnprofessional.dpi.wi.gov/learn, for LearnProfessional.

  1. In the upper-right corner, click Sign In.
  2. When the Sign In window opens:
  • If you are a Google email district, leave the username and password fields empty. Click Google Sign-In.

Or,

  • If you are not a Google email district, enter the username (email address) and password from your registration. Then, click Sign In (green button).

Find Courses in the Course Catalog
  1. In the upper-left corner, click the Courses and Learning Plans tab. This displays the catalog of courses available to you.
  2. To the left of the search field, click Filters.
  3. Click Course Subject.
  4. Select School-Based Suicide Prevention.
  5. Notice what properties display for each course in the search results.

Enroll in a Course
  1. Click on one of the search results.
  2. Read the course description to ensure this course meets your needs.
  3. Under Course syllabus, notice the lessons included.
  4. Under Course details, notice the Time to complete (how long you have to complete this course).
  5. To the right of the course description, click Enroll.
    • You can unenroll yourself as long as you have not begun the lessons in the course.

Check Progress in a Course
  1. When you begin a lesson, it displays as “In Progress” within the syllabus.
  2. When you complete a lesson, it displays as “Completed” within the syllabus.
  • If multiple courses share a lesson, LearnProfessional automatically marks this lesson as completed in all courses.
Fill out Course Survey

To complete each course, you must fill out the course survey, which is the last lesson in the course. Each course survey includes the following questions:

  1. Strongly disagree / Disagree / Neither disagree nor agree / Agree / Strongly agree
    • The content of this training is relevant to my work.
    • The content of this training is valuable.
    • I will recommend this training to a colleague.
    • I will use the information from this training to change my current practice.
  2. Please describe how you will use the information from this training to change your practice. (Optional)
  3. How can we make this course better? (Optional)
Course Certificate
  1. When you complete a course, it displays, “Well done! The course is completed.”
  2. You also receive email confirmation of course completion.
  3. Within the course, near the top-right corner, click Download certificate if you need proof of course completion in addition to the confirmation email and the completion marked in LearnProfessional.

Find Completed Courses
  1. On the Learner Homepage, in the Your Profile section, click My Activities.

  2. In the My Activities left-side menu, click Courses.
  3. Click the User Status column header to sort courses by completion status.
  4. On the far right of any completed course's row, click the badge icon to download a copy of the course certificate, if needed.

Notes for IT Professionals

Communications from LearnProfessional

Registration confirmation emails come from donotreply@email.learnprofessional.dpi.wi.gov. You might consider adding this as an approved sender.

Google Single Sign-On (SSO) is enabled

For Google districts. Your staff only need to confirm their account registration and then they can login with the GOOGLE SIGN-IN button on the Sign-in page. They do not need to enter a username and password.

Find a Link to a Course

If you would like to send your staff a link directly to a specific course that they need to take, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to https://learnprofessional.dpi.wi.gov/learn.
  2. Before you sign in (or in an incognito browser if you are already signed in), search for the course to which you want a direct link.
  3. Click on the course tile.
  4. Copy the URL in the field at the top of the webpage. 

Notes for District Administrators

Request a Report of Course Completions
  1. Go to https://learnprofessional.dpi.wi.gov/learn.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the screen click Register.
  3. Complete the registration form.
  4. Email learnprofessionalsupport@dpi.wi.gov to request a course completions report.
  5. A DPI staff member will process your request.
  6. Every Monday, you will receive by email a link to view a report listing all course completions.

  • This report is not specific to a single course or school year.
  • This report is a CSV file, which displays data without formatting. This is convenient when you want to manipulate data, such as sorting and filtering.
  1. Open the CSV file in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or another CSV file editor.
  2. Sort and filter the data according to your needs. The following resources provide step-by-step instructions with screenshots for sorting and filtering data in a table in the respective software:
