Availability of Background Check Applications
The background check applications for lifetime license reinstatement (5900) will be unavailable due to end-of-year maintenance beginning January 2, 2025. Background check applications will be open and available to users on January 9, 2025.
Notice to Lifetime License Holders
The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) is emailing those lifetime license holders who need to complete a background check and verification of work history to maintain their lifetime license. Those emails will be sent between January 9 and 14, 2025 with the steps that need to be taken. The requirements to maintain a lifetime license are found in Wisconsin Administrative Code §PI 34.041 and Wisconsin Statutes §118.19 (10)(b) and §118.19 (18)(c).
