Overview of Module

In this module, you will study reasoning and explaining, which include Standard for Mathematical Practice #2 (Reasoning abstractly and quantitatively) and #3 (Constructing a viable argument)

You will gain an understanding of:

  • characteristics that are displayed by a student who is proficient at reasoning abstractly and quantitatively
  • characteristics that are displayed by a student who is proficient at constructing a viable argument
  • the effect of incorporating these practices into daily instruction for both student and teacher
