Air Quality Advisory Issued for 5/30/2025

Thursday, May 29, 2025
Air Quality index developed by the DPI and DNR represent the different air quality levels and what kinds of actions are ok, and what should be avoided.
Air Quality will be in the yellow and orange categories during the day on Friday, 5/30/2025.

What
An Air Quality Advisory has been issued by the DNR and will go into effect at 6am tomorrow (Friday) and go through 6am Saturday for ALL Wisconsin counties. Due to wildfire smoke moving into Wisconsin from Canada, the DNR anticipates that air quality in every county in Wisconsin could range from yellow to red.

Actions Required
The DPI requests that you share this information with staff along with recommendations for activity modifications. All children regardless of health status are considered members of a "sensitive group" and therefore have increased likelihood of health issues related to exposure to unhealthy levels of contaminants in the air.

General suggestions for student population: Make outdoor activities shorter and less intense. It’s OK to be active outdoors but take more breaks. Watch for symptoms such as coughing or shortness of breath.
People with asthma: Follow your asthma action plan and keep quick relief medicine handy.
People with heart disease: Symptoms such as palpitations, shortness of breath, or unusual fatigue may indicate a serious problem. If you have any of these, contact your health care provider.
