Celebrate Adult School Crossing Guard Week: Feb. 16-20

Tuesday, February 3, 2026

You are invited to participate in Wisconsin’s Adult School Crossing Guard Recognition Week, Feb. 16-20, 2026. State Superintendent Dr. Jill Underly encourages schools and communities across the state to take part in this important recognition initiative.

Every day dedicated adult school crossing guards across Wisconsin show up at their assigned crossings to assist students in their journey to or from school. Their commitment plays an important role in supporting student safety and community wellbeing.

This recognition event was developed through a collaborative partnership of agencies and organizations representing state, county, and local levels. Partners include AAA Wisconsin, Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Wisconsin Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association, Wisconsin School Safety Coordinators Association, Wisconsin Highway Safety Coordinators Association, and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Visit DPI’s Alcohol/Traffic Safety and Driver Education website to access copies of Dr. Underly’s proclamation, the 2026 ideas sheet, the 2026 poster, and related digital images. Please direct questions to the Student Services team at (608) 266-8960 or dpisspw@dpi.wi.gov.

Thank you for helping to make Feb. 16-20 a special week for the adult crossing guards who serve your school!
