Education for Homeless Children Modules

Wednesday, February 28, 2018

The Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) team at the DPI is excited to announce the creation of training modules to support educators and staff who interact with homeless students. The modules provide in-depth professional development for school staff on the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act and serve to help grow an understanding of law’s purpose and requirements.

The modules address each component of the law and provide a scenario for participants to test their knowledge. There is a review built into the end of each situation and an option to receive an email notification upon completion of each module. The modules also provide resources for staff supporting students experiencing homelessness.

We encourage liaisons to utilize this resource to meet their requirement under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act to provide training and awareness to staff. The modules are available on the EHCY website, along with a short 5-minute training video and other example forms and resources.
