GSAFE to Honor State Superintendent Carolyn Stanford Taylor

Tuesday, June 22, 2021

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Carolyn Stanford Taylor will be honored at the 25th annual GSAFE Celebration of Leadership event on June 26. Each year, the celebration brings together LGBTQ+ activists and community members, while honoring leaders and high school students for their activism.

The state superintendent will be among those recognized for their activism across the state while coming together in an outdoor setting to enjoy a night among friends after holding a virtual event last year.

This year, the event will be held on the rooftop of the Monona Terrace in Madison for “A night among the stars.”

According to their website, GSAFE creates "just schools for LGBTQ+ youth" in Wisconsin by:

  • Developing the leadership of LGBTQ+ youth,

  • Supporting Gay-Straight Alliances,

  • Training educators,

  • Advancing educational justice, and

  • Deepening racial, gender, trans, and social justice (2021).
