Tuesday, March 18, 2025
Graphic with the text "New interactive map shows federal funding impact on Wisconsin Districts." There is a static map of the state of Wisconsin with school districts across the state in various shades of white to dark purple. The districts who receive the least amount of federal funding as a percentage of their total school funding are the lightest. The districts with the highest percentage of federal funds as a percentage of their total school funding are represented as dark purple, with many districts falling somewhere in between. Overlaid is the yellow congressional district boundaries and numbers for reference.
The interactive map is available here and on the DPI's Tracking Federal Funding Cuts webpage.

New resource includes interactive map, real-time updates, and district-specific flyers

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction has launched a new webpage dedicated to providing real-time updates, critical information, and resources related to federal funding for public schools and libraries across the state.

The tools available on the webpage include real-time updates on current funding cuts at the federal level and an interactive map that enables the public to view district-specific data on the impact of federal funding. This map provides detailed breakdowns from the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, showing the total amount of federal funds received, the number of full-time educators supported by U.S. Department of Education funding, and the percentage of federal funding relative to each district's revenue limit.

Resources also include personalized one-page flyers for each Wisconsin district. These flyers, which can be accessed alphabetically at the bottom of the webpage, highlight the unique effects of federal funding on each Wisconsin school district.

The DPI encourages all school and library leaders, educators, and community members to utilize these resources to better understand the crucial role of federal funding and communicate its importance to their school communities.
