Nominations for Teacher Fellowship and Principal Leadership Awards Now Open

Tuesday, September 21, 2021
Teacher and principal nominations for the 2022 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation’s Teacher Fellowship and Principal Leadership Awards are now open.

The awards are presented to teachers who have demonstrated an ability to inspire love of learning in their students, motivate others, and have provided meritorious service both in and outside the classroom. The awards also recognize and support principals who demonstrate administrative leadership and positively influence school culture.

Nominations may be made by a parent, student, colleague, community member, or school administrator. Wisconsin teachers and principals in grades PK through 12 who plan to continue in their current capacity for at least one year are eligible. Award recipients are selected by a state-level panel, consisting of representatives from the Wisconsin Newspaper Association Foundation, Association of Wisconsin School Administrators, cooperative educational service agencies, several education-related associations, and community representatives.

Those teachers and principals receiving the award will receive $6,000 from the foundation, with an additional $6,000 grant being awarded to the school of each selected teacher and principal. The deadline for submissions is Oct. 12 at 5 p.m. To submit a nomination online, visit KohlEducation.org.

Established in 1990, the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation awards 100 Fellowship Awards and 16 Leadership Awards annually. The program has awarded 3,313 grants to Wisconsin teachers and principals and matching grants to their schools totaling $13.4 million.
