Last month, Gov. Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Office of Violence Prevention announced a new grant program to support initiatives to help prevent violence across Wisconsin. School districts are among the entities eligible to apply for this grant funding. Additional information, including guidelines and application procedures, is available on the Wisconsin Department of Administration’s webpage. Applications are due by 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16.
In addition, the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Office of School Safety Program offers resources and training opportunities around preventing targeted violence in schools. This bystander eLearning module teaches viewers how to recognize concerning behaviors and report information of concern. The Speak Up, Speak Out Resource Center continues to offer a free, statewide threat reporting tip line for all schools, and the Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management webpage offers additional violence prevention resources.
