Wisconsin Public Libraries Support School and Community Census Efforts

Tuesday, February 18, 2020

Wisconsin’s public libraries are a United States Census 2020 resource for school districts and local communities. Accurate census counts help determine federal funding amounts for many programs as well as United States Congressional representation.

Our public libraries are supporting local communities by sharing meeting room space and knowledge to ensure an accurate local census count. An estimated 90 percent of the entire population will complete their Census 2020 forms online. Library professionals can assist people and families in completing online forms at their local library.

The Department of Public Library’s Public Library Development Team (PLD) is providing library staff with information through the PLD Census 2020 web page. Resources include:

  • A brief video on how to take the census

  • Wisconsin-specific census information

  • American Library Association census resources

  • 2020 Census online survey sneak peek
