DPI will hold hearing on proposed rules related to SLP licensing and educator preparation programs

MADISON — The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction will hold an administrative rules hearing to accept public testimony on proposed changes to permanent rules related to educator licensing.
 
The proposed rules seek to amend Wis. Admin. Code sec. PI 34, related to the following:
  • Clearinghouse Rule 20-070, amending PI 34 relating to speech and language pathologist licenses. This proposed rule specifies a pathway for licensees who hold a tier I speech-language pathologist license to become eligible for a tier II license, and makes technical changes to the rule to conform the rule’s terminology with current terminology for speech-language pathologists.
  • Clearinghouse Rule 20-071, amending PI 34 relating to relating to alternative completion standards for educator preparation programs. This proposed rule addresses the prohibition that no more than 10 percent of the cohort of students completing an educator preparation program may be measured using alternative measures of performance while maintaining high standards in the use of each alternative measure.
The DPI will hold the public hearing by teleconference only. Additional information on attending is provided below. Written comments received no later than the date of the hearing will be given the same consideration as testimony presented at the hearing.
