Announcement from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction School Nutrition Team

Triennial Assessment of Local Wellness Policies

As of June 30, 2020, all School Food Authorities (SFAs), except those new to the USDA School Meal Programs, are required to have completed their first Triennial Assessment of Local Wellness Policies, or SFAs are required to have completed the Local School Wellness Policy Triennial Assessment Waiver Notification Form. A copy of the assessment must be retained and will be reviewed as part of the next Administrative Review of your Child Nutrition Programs. Additionally, the triennial assessment must be made available to the public. You do not need to submit a copy of your completed assessment to the School Nutrition Team.

SFAs who have started participating in the USDA School Meal Programs on or after the 2018-19 school year must complete a triennial assessment by the end of the third school year participating in the nutrition programs. For example, SFAs who began operating in the 2018-19 school year must have the triennial assessment completed by June 30, 2021. SFAs who began operating in the 2019-20 school year must complete their triennial assessment no later than June 30, 2022.
