USDA’s Produce Safety University

USDA is once again offering Produce Safety University (PSU). PSU is a one-week, all expenses paid training course for USDA's Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) State agency and local school district/school food authority partners. Participants nominated to attend this training should have a current role in training school food service staff at either the district or school level. In addition, participants are expected to teach others about produce safety using the comprehensive training materials provided during the training.
If interested in being nominated for this opportunity, please complete this short survey. The deadline for submissions is by 4:00 pm on Friday, November 24th. Those selected to be nominated will be notified by December 1st.

Direct Certification – Reminder: Second Run Required

SFAs are required to use the Direct Certification Program to simplify student access to free meals by uploading enrollment files into the portal at any time throughout the school year. This is a reminder that SFAs are required to complete a minimum of three direct certification runs throughout the school year. The first run is at or around the start of the school year. The second required run is three months after the first run. This means your SFA should be completing the second run between November and December. If you have questions about Direct Certification, please contact
SFAs participating in special provisions, such as Community Eligibility Provision and Provision 2, and Residential Child Care Institutes (RCCIs) without day students, are not required to complete the direct certification runs.
