On October 14, 2020, USDA released Questions and Answers Relating to the Nationwide Waiver to Allow Summer Food Service Program and Seamless Summer Option Operations through School Year 2020-2021 - EXTENSION - Q&As #2. Please take some time to read through the attached guidance document.
Important note about carryover:
If your school food authority (SFA) is operating the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) or Seamless Summer Option (SSO) during school year (SY) 2020-21, the eligibility carryover period is paused during SFSP and SSO operations. SFAs that did not have any National School Lunch Program (NSLP) or School Breakfast Program (SBP) operating days at the start of SY 2020-21 may begin the 30-day eligibility period when transition back to NSLP and SBP occurs.
If an SFA is operating NSLP/SBP in SY 2020-21, the 30-day carryover period is in effect.

Meal Pattern Flexibility Waiver
Please Note: The extension of this waiver (released October 9, 2020) revises previously released meal pattern flexibility waivers. It adds the waiver of the requirement that schools must offer students a variety (at least two different options) of fluid milk. However, requests for service of milk with higher milk fat will not be approved (for SFAs using the NSLP/SBP meal patterns) as all other fluid milk requirements remain in effect.
