Updates from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)
 

Unpaid Meals: Best Practices to Ensure Student Access to Meals (Webinar Recording)

On August 24, USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) delivered a live webinar featuring panelists from the Minnesota and Virginia State agencies sharing proactive strategies to prevent and manage unpaid meal charges as schools return to standard counting and claiming in school year 2022-23.

USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) Research: Added Sugars in School Meals and Competitive Foods

This report responds to the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021, which directs the FNS to provide a report on the amount of added sugars in school meals.

ServSafe ® Registration is Open!
Registration is now open for a ServSafe ® event on Friday, September 23! We will host a review session from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, followed by the ServSafe Manager exam from 12-2:00 PM at the Monona Grove School District Office. Space is limited and registration will be on a first come, first served basis. Acceptable payment methods are credit card or ACH Interfund Transfer.

Please note this is not a full course and is instead a great opportunity for those who need a refresher in the material before recertifying. The cost of the review session and exam is $50 plus an additional $50-70 if you need to purchase the 7th Edition ServSafe® Manager coursebook ahead of time.

Administrative Review (AR) & You Workshop
The USDA Administrative Review (AR) assesses a school food authority’s administration of the National School Lunch, School Breakfast, Afterschool Snack, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable, and Special Milk Programs as well as the Seamless Summer Option and Wisconsin School Day Milk Program.

In order to assist SFAs Scheduled for an AR in SY 2022-23 with this process the SNT is excited to offer the AR & You Workshop. This two hour training will provide details on all areas of the AR including information about using the SNACS software during the process. You may choose to attend in person or virtually. We strongly encourage staff from SFAs scheduled for an AR this school year to attend.

  • Thursday, September 29, 2022, from 4-6:00 PM at Altoona High School in Altoona, WI
