School Nutrition Skills Development Courses (SNSDC)

virtual snsdc

Welcome to Virtual SNSDC! Every summer, the School Nutrition Team (SNT) hosts summer trainings around the state. These trainings are completely optional! Due to COVID-19, these trainings were conducted virtually.

There is no charge, registration, or course sign-up required for these trainings.

Course materials will remain up for the entire 2020-21 school year.

Instructions:
  • Watch recorded course training. Each course has a video recording, which must be watched in its entirety to obtain a GOALS Certificate of Excellence and professional standards credit. You may watch these as a group or individually. However, each person must complete the Google Form associated with the course to receive a certificate of completion. The End of Course Survey link can be found within the YouTube description of each video. You may have to click "show more" for the link to appear.

Professional Standards and GOALS

All school nutrition professionals are required to complete ongoing professional education to improve their knowledge of the school meal programs. Actual hour requirements can be found in the Professional Standards In a Nutshell. SNSDC courses may be counted towards the Professional Standards requirements. Training is counted minute for minute. The amount of training provided in each course will be listed on the Certificate of Completion as well as within the confirmation email that you will receive upon completing a course.

School nutrition professionals seeking to obtain a GOALS Certificate of Excellence may use the virtual SNSDC courses to meet the requirements. Information on how the SNSDC course credits towards GOALS is listed on the Certificate of Completion that will be emailed upon completing a course. For more information, review the Course Availability and GOALS Requirements

Discrepancies in Crediting

Due to the ongoing public health crisis and DPI’s inability to provide in-person training this summer, some courses are being credited differently than their actual time for GOALS credit. For example, the Standardized Recipe course lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes. This course may be credited as 90 minutes of Professional Standards. However, this course will fulfill 2 hours GOALS requirement for 2020. School nutrition professionals should enter 90 minutes on their Professional Standards Tracker but may enter 2 hours on their GOALS Training Tracker.
