DOR Spring Property Values

Friday, June 12, 2020

The spring certification of school district property values is now available on our Property Value webpage under “2020-2021 School Fiscal Year.”

Twice each year, the Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR) certifies equalized property values to DPI for use in aid and levy determinations. A first, “fall” set of property values as of January 1, 2019 were certified by DOR in October 2019 as “tax apportionment” values. School districts used the tax apportionment values last fall in the revenue limit computation and to apportion the school levy.

Last month (May 2020) DOR provided a final certification of the January 1, 2019 equalized property values, some of which may have changed since the October certification as a result of assessors’ adjustments. This “spring” certification will be used in the 2020-21 General School Aids computation.

The relevant values for General School Aids purposes are shown in the last column, entitled “TID OUT + COMPUTER COMBINED VALUE.” As a reminder, exempt computer values from January 2016 are still used in General Aid computations.

If your district is involved in a reorganization order effective July 1, 2020, please note that there will be changes to these values. The SFS Team will notify affected districts after the team receives and processes value changes related to reorganization orders, which will be used in the October 15 Aid Certification.
