Reminder – Second Friday January Pupil Count Is Due Today
The second Friday in January Pupil Count Report is due January 23, 2026. Detailed guidance on submitting the report is provided on this page of the DPI website. Questions about the report should be directed to Kathy Fry, School Administration Consultant, at 608-224-5343.
Membership audits are required by Wis. Stat. §115.28(18) for at least 25 percent of school districts each year. Under this random selection method, all districts will be audited at least once every four years. Districts with audit findings, late January pupil count and summer school fee issues are added to the list.
Please be sure the individual(s) who completes the PI-1563 January Pupil Count Report for your district is aware of this deadline.
The FY2024-25 High-Cost Special Education Aid Reporting Module deadline is Monday, March 2, 2026
High-Cost Special Education (HCSE) Aid provides additional support for school districts and other eligible LEAs serving students with disabilities that are significant and costly. Agencies apply for partial reimbursement of the costs for individual students in the previous fiscal year. The HCSE aid program is administered under s. 115.881, Wis. Stats., and PI 30, Wis. Admin. Code.
The High-Cost Special Education Aid report located in the Wisconsin School Finance Portal (WiSFiP) is open until Monday, March 2, 2026. LEAs will report high-cost data from FY 2024-25 for aid reimbursement in FY2026. See the SFS High-Cost Special Education Aid webpage for more information and new online presentations.
Agencies are encouraged to submit their data early in the process for review in case revisions are needed prior to the deadline of March 2, 2026. School Financial Services staff will be at the WASBO Wisconsin Federal Funding Conference on February 23-24, to assist agencies with DPI fiscal reporting.
