Staff Changes? Update Your Contacts!

Monday, July 13, 2020

Many LEAs have mid-summer staff changes in the business office. If this is the case for you, take some time right now to update your login and contact information for the various school finance reports to be completed over the next few months.

SAFR Reporting Contacts

New staff members who will be working with in the SAFR reports (PI-1505, PI-1563, etc.) will need to be entered or updated in the PI-1500 District Contacts Report. Information on updating the PI-1500 is available on our District Contacts Report instructions page.

If new staff are coming from another district/LEA, do not allow them to use the same PI-1500 login ID. It could result in difficulties for both districts. Contact Bruce Anderson if a staff member inadvertently transfers their login ID.

The SFS Team also uses the PI-1500 to contact districts and other LEAs. If your email or phone system has changed, please update that information as well.

Transfer of Service Reporting Contacts

PI-5000 Transfer of Service (TOS) application security is processed through the Application User Management system along with the Open Enrollment (OPAL) and Homeschool Reporting (HOMER) applications. Initial access and authorization of additional users is done by the District Administrator who grants access to “Transfer of Service-LEP” and “Transfer of Service-SPED,” just as they would for OPAL and HOMER.

Detailed information is available in our “Directions for Completing Transfer of Service” document.

For questions about SAFR or Transfer of Service access, contact Bruce Anderson bruce.anderson@dpi.wi.gov (608) 267-9707

ESSA School Level Reporting, Chapter 220 Membership, and WISEdata Finance Contacts

Along with most newer DPI reporting applications, the SFS Team uses WISEhome and WISEsecure to manage user security for the Wisconsin School Finance Portal (WiSFiP), used for ESSA School Level and Chapter 220 Membership reporting, as well as for the new WISEdata Finance system that will begin replacing SAFR in 2021-22.

General information applicable to all WISEsecure applications (WiSFiP, WISEdata, WISEgrants, etc.) is available on DPI’s WISEhome/WISEsecure webpage. Specific information on assigning access for ESSA School Level Reporting is available on our SLR Help page. Contact Scott Huelsman directly regarding access to Chapter 220 reporting for Milwaukee-area districts with students still participating in the program.

For questions about WiSFiP access, contact Scott Huelsman scott.huelsman@dpi.wi.gov (608) 266-2787

The 2020-21 school year will be an “open beta” for the new WISEdata Finance application for collecting school finance data directly from vendor systems. More information on that process will be forthcoming over the next few months, but in the meantime you can get started by assigning user access. See the instruction doc for details.
