WIS291 HUMAN RELATIONS 02/26/1990 08:37 AM D1 354 Lines Cross-Cluster Human Relations (5-15 days) This unit deals with human relations in agriculture and agribusiness. Topics include career opportunities, terms and concepts, personality, interrelationship guidelines, employer and employee perspectives, union history, and supervisory positions. Objectives To acquaint students with employment information and career opportunities in the human relations aspect of agriculture and agribusiness To familiarize students with basic human relations terms and concepts To facilitate student inquiry into personality traits desired by various employees To assist students in reflecting on how they are seen by others To acquaint students with guidelines for developing effective working relationships with co-workers To develop student understanding of how employees view and evaluate job candidates To assist students in identifying how employers view and evaluate employers To increase student understanding of the history, role, and functions of unions in agriculture To develop greater student understanding of the duties and responsibilities of lead workers, supervisors, and managers Competencies At the conclusion of this unit, students will be able to explain current employment information such as job descriptions, job availability, personal and educational requirements, working conditions, opportunity for advancement, and other factors relative to potential employment in the human relations aspect of agriculture and agribusiness and relate it to their personal needs and aspirations; understand and apply basic human relations concepts and terms; identify personality traits desired by various employers; interpret how others view the student through reflections and responses; apply the guidelines for developing effective working relationships in agricultural occupations; list and understand what employers are looking for in job candidates; discuss employee attitude and evaluation of employers in agriculture; identify historical background, roles, and functions of unions in agriculture; and list the duties and responsibilities of lead workers, supervisors, and managers.
