From: DPI Open Enrollment Sent: Wednesday, June 5, 2019 9:22 AM To: Demrow, Jennifer DPI Subject: Withdrawing Current OE Students Before the Beginning of the Next School Year To – District Administrators and Open Enrollment Coordinators From – Jen Demrow, Open Enrollment Consultant Subject – Withdrawing Current OE Students Before the Beginning of the Next School Year There is a feature in OPAL that will allow you to withdraw students during the summer or at the end of the school year, so they will not be rolled over to the 2019-20 school year and will not be on the 3rd Friday in September list. Since the OPAL rollover occurs on August 1, to keep students from being rolled over into 2019- 20, the summer withdrawal must be entered and approved by the other district before the end of the day on July 31. In order to complete a student’s summer withdrawal, from the Students page and the Actively Open Enrolled tab, click on the student’s name to bring up their Student Summary page. Click on the Withdraw Student tab, click Edit, and enter the withdrawal information under the “Summer Withdrawals” section. It is not necessary to withdraw graduating seniors. They will be dropped from the All Students list as part of the rollover. This also applies to 8th graders in K-8 districts. If you are looking for further instructions on how to withdraw pupils, there is a Camtasia presentation titled “Withdrawing Students in OPAL” and we have a training module available called “OPAL 101: Student Data Changes After 3rd Friday”. Both training modules are available on our Trainings webpage at https://dpi.wi.gov/open-enrollment/resources/training.
