The 2019-20 alternative open enrollment application is now available on the open enrollment 
website on the Alternative Application Procedures webpage at http://dpi.wi.gov/open-
enrollment/applications/alternative. The application is available in English, Spanish, and Hmong. 

Alternative applications are for a current school year. Parents who have missed the regular 
application deadline for the 2019-20 school year may submit alternative applications on or after 
July 1. 

As a reminder, alternative open enrollment applications are not exceptions to a school district’s 
approval/denial criteria. 
If a district has filled all its spaces with applications submitted during the regular application 
period, then alternative applications cannot be approved. If a district has pupils on waitlists in 
July, the district must accept those pupils before accepting any pupils who apply through the 
alternative application procedures. Those pupils would be added to the bottom of the waitlists.
