Subject – OPAL Data for 2016-17 Will Be Frozen May 1
 
In preparation for making the final open enrollment aid adjustments, OPAL data will be frozen 
on Monday, May 1st.  After that date, any changes to data that affects OE payments for the 
2016-17 school year must be sent to the DPI Open Enrollment staff via the open enrollment 
email address (openenrollment@dpi.wi.gov).  You may still respond to change of status 
requests. 

Please review your Actively Open Enrolled lists to ensure: 

*	every pupil who should be on the list is on the list.
*	every pupil who should not be on the list is not on the list.
*	the special education (SPED) designation is correct.
*	the FTE is correct. 
*	if a pupil is listed twice on your list, verify that they should be listed twice.
*	if the pupil has withdrawn from open enrollment, that the date of withdrawal and days 
of OE are on the Actively Open Enrolled list.
*	you respond promptly to any change of status requests. 

The Actively Open Enrolled list is the list of pupils open enrolled into or out of your district in 
the 2016-17 school year.  OPAL allows this list to always be up-to-date and for you to have the 
most up-to-date information at your fingertips.  However, OPAL is only as accurate as the 
information which is entered (or not entered).  Please be sure that all information on the 
Actively Open Enrolled list is up-to-date. 

The per pupil aid transfer amount in OPAL reflects the 2016-17 OE aid transfer amount ($6,748 
for pupils without disabilities and $12,000 for pupils with disabilities).  Therefore, to the extent 
that your data are correct, you have the actual positive and negative open enrollment aid 
transfers that will apply to your June state aid payment.
