Wisconsin SLDS 2015 Grant--Bringing Evidence Based Practice to Practitioners in Wisconsin

This grant is to be completed between October 2015 and September 2020 and is funded by a $5,453,435 grant from the US Department of Education, Institute of Education Sciences.


  • Build from previous work and needs from the field
  • Work in collaboration with external partners and stakeholders
  • Jumpstart activities that can be maintained sustainably
  • Emphasis on data literacy and data use
  • Link research findings to instructional support work within this project
  • Major outcomes fall under two priority areas:

Instructional Support

  • Extend the Statewide Longitudinal Data System to classroom relevant data 
  • Increase assessment literacy and strategic assessment practices
  • Increase data-informed planning and better facilitate research improvement planning

Research and Evaluation

  • Use SLDS to identify and evaluate equity-promoting practices
  • Increase local evaluation capacity
  • Conduct cross-agency research on school context
