"New Private School" Requirements for Applying to Participate in the
Private School Choice Programs (PSCP)
for the 2021-22 School Year
The deadline for a "new private school" to register for the
2021-22 school year is August 1, 2020.
State law establishes the requirements and deadlines all private schools must meet in order to participate in the PSCP. All private schools new to the PSCP that are interested in participating in the PSCP must register with the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) and complete fiscal management training whether the school currently exists or not. Sign up to receive information as it becomes available by filling out the interested schools form. The requirements and deadlines established in state law vary based on whether the private school is considered a "new private school" or an "existing private school." See the Registration webpage in order to determine if your school is a "new private school" or an "existing private school." The following are required for "new private schools."
If a "new private school" intends to participate in the PSCP for the 2021-22 school year, the individual that will serve as the school's PSCP administrator must attend both parts of the virtual fiscal management training in order for the school to participate in the PSCP. The PSCP administrator is the individual identified on the Intent to Participate form. This person must meet the PSCP administrator requirements. See the Staff Credentials Bulletin for information on the requirements to be a PSCP administrator. Additionally, it is strongly advised that the individual that will complete the budget and/or responsible for the school's accounting, bookkeeping or fiscal management also attend the training.
Training Part 1: Overview Training
The overview training will include general PSCP requirements and the items due by August 1 except for the budget and cash flow report. This training will take place on the following dates. Participants must attend on one of the dates.
- June 10, 2020 from 2-4
- June 15, 2020 from 9-11
Training Part 2: Budget Training
The budget portion of the training will go through the completion of the budget and cash flow report in Excel and explain the requirements the school’s budget and cash flow report must meet. This training will take place on the following dates. Participants must attend on one of the dates.
- June 11, 2020 from 8:30-4
- June 17, 2020 from 8:30-4
