"New Private School" Requirements for Applying to Participate in the
Private School Choice Programs (PSCP)
for the 2019-20 School Year
The deadline for a "new private school" to register for the
2019-20 school year is August 1, 2018. Required training is in late May/early June.
State law establishes the requirements and deadlines all private schools must meet in order to participate in the PSCP. All private schools new to the PSCP that are interested in participating in the PSCP must register with the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) and complete fiscal management training whether the school currently exists or not. The requirements and deadlines established in state law vary based on whether the private school is considered a "new private school" or an "existing private school." See the Registration webpage in order to determine if your school is a "new private school" or an "existing private school." The following are required for "new private schools."
Required Training on May 30, 2018 or June 6, 2018
If a "new private school" intends to participate in the PSCP for the 2019-20 school year, the individual that will serve as the school's PSCP administrator must attend the training. The training will include general PSCP requirements, the August 1 requirements, and a hands-on session that covers how the budget and cash flow report is completed in Excel.
Who must attend: The PSCP administrator for the school identified on the Intent to Participate form must complete the training in order for the school to participate in the PSCP. This person must meet the administrator requirements. See the Staff Credentials Bulletin for information on the requirements to be a PSCP administrator. Additionally, it is strongly advised that the individual that will complete the budget and/or who will be responsible for the school's accounting, bookkeeping or fiscal management also attend the training.
Training Dates: The school must attend the training on either Wednesday, May 30, 2018 or Wednesday, June 6, 2018. The training is from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. To register, click on the training date you would like to attend. The same information is presented at each training. Space is limited for the training, so please sign up early. Each individual attending the training must register separately.
