Wisconsin Standards for Social Studies (2018)

In May 2018, State Superintendent Tony Evers adopted the Wisconsin Standards for Social Studies. The standards were written for educators, by educators, and focus on a dynamic balance of content and skills that our students need to succeed as social studies learners in our state. Find more information about the standards at https://dpi.wi.gov/social-studies/standards.
Coming to a CESA near you...

Kris McDaniel, WI DPI Social Studies Consultant, is partnering with CESAs across the state to offer one-day workshops to assist districts with implementation of the revised social studies standards. These workshops will kick off the Year 1 focus of "Understanding the New Standards" rollout encouraged by DPI. Although Kris will not be physically present for these workshops, she worked closely with CESAs to ensure common messages and language regarding the new standards.
Each CESA has the option of up to five days of workshops, planned by Kris, to offer to district teams. Each day will include videos, activities, and resources to take back to your district. See the descriptions of each day here.
The workshops also parallel resources, videos, and webinars being released by DPI during the 2018-19 school year. Each collaborative session is designed for district teams or individuals involved in Social Studies standards rollout.
Note that every CESA may not be able to offer every workshop, but may choose to send information out via email, webinar, or offer discussion in online spaces. If there is a topic your CESA cannot offer, make sure to check the WiSSS DPI Rollout webpage for information about resources and webinars that may focus on that topic!
