This session is designed for elementary teams involved in social studies standards rollout. An exciting component of the revised standards is an increased structure for districts who want it for K-5. The standards are sorted into grade level bands (K-2, 3-5), but also into grade level suggestions for teaching and learning. In addition, an appendix for a suggested K-5 scope & sequence for social studies offers a foundation for districts to open discussions about what they want their students to know and be able to do in social studies before leaving 5th grade. Dig deep and build a quality elementary social studies program!

This is part of a series of workshops at CESA 9 on the new social studies standards. Additional dates are March 5, 2019 (State Requirements), and May 9, 2019 (Civic Engagement & Reflection).
