Special Education District Profile
The Special Education District Profile includes:
- LEA data.
- State data.
- The target for each indicator.
- Data sources for each indicator.
- A link to more information about each indicator.
The Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) of 2004 requires the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) to have in place a State Performance Plan (SPP) that:
- Evaluates the State's efforts to implement the requirements and purposes of IDEA using indicators of compliance and performance, and
- Describes how the State will improve performance.
The State Performance Plan represents the department's plan for improving outcomes of children with disabilities in Wisconsin and supports the state's commitment to every child a graduate, college and career ready.
Using a stakeholder process, the department set measurable and rigorous targets for the performance indicators in the SPP. The DPI is required to submit to the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), an Annual Performance Report (APR) describing the State’s progress or slippage in meeting the targets. In addition, DPI must report annually to the public on the performance of each local educational agency (LEA) on Indicators 1-14. The department reports this data through the Special Education District Profile.
DPI will not report to the public any information on performance that would result in the disclosure of personally identifiable information about individual children. The DPI strives to include the most currently available performance data on each LEA.
