State Personnel Development Grant

The State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG) grant is entitled “Educators Forward: a multilevel system of personnel development supports to recruit and retain Wisconsin special educators and leaders” and addresses Wisconsin’s staffing challenges in special education.

The five-year $10.5 million program funds the following levels of support:

  1. All educators and leaders have a universal level of support through a toolkit of professional learning modules using a learning management or apps-based platform and social media campaign materials.
  2. A targeted group of special educators and special education leaders will receive support through a statewide induction program that includes training and coaching.
  3. Midsized districts will receive intensive supports to implement a teacher residency program in partnership with UW-Whitewater.

DPI will collaborate with CESAs, UW-Madison, UW-Whitewater, Wisconsin Council of Administrators of Special Services (WCASS), WI FACETS, the Department of Health Services (DHS), and the Department of Workforce Development – Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR).
