Special Educator Induction Program

At the targeted level of support, Educators Forward will provide a comprehensive and robust induction program to recruit and retain new special educators. The newly-expanded induction program will align Wisconsin’s Special Educator Induction Program with UW-Madison’s Project ACRES, offering in-person and virtual options for professional learning, coaching and support network opportunities. The induction program prioritizes special educators who hold emergency certification and/or those who are in their first three years of classroom teaching. The project has secured partnership with UW-Madison and Wisconsin’s 12 regional Cooperative Educational Service Agencies (CESAs) to align, improve and expand two existing statewide induction programs into a single, cohesive statewide induction program for new special educators. Professional learning will focus on HLP pillars and CCR IEPs. When all three components of an effective induction program are accessed by new special educators, the likelihood of more effective classroom practices and student achievement increases.
