Warhawks Teach @ Residency Program

At the intensive level of support, Educators Forward will provide structure, funding, and support for fifteen mid-sized districts to partner with UW-Whitewater to move certified special educators working under temporary licensure (known as License with Stipulations) to full certification through a teacher residency program. UW-W’s mascot is the Warhawks, and the program is entitled “Warhawks Teach @”. For purposes of this project, “mid-sized” is defined as a local education agency with total student enrollment between 5,000 and 15,000. Warhawks Teach @ will offer teachers on licenses with stipulations an online cross-categorical special education licensure program and receive a Master’s in Special Education (MSE). The teachers “learn while they earn” as classroom teachers in the districts. For this project, UW-W has committed to refine existing MSE programming into an online special education licensure program that will include student teaching and coursework. The curriculum will focus on HLPs, CCR IEPs, and coaching in order to align to common content and messaging.
