Update Regarding EIPA Score Changes

The State Superintendent's Advisory Council on Deaf/Hard of Hearing Programs recommended and the DPI has accepted that the required EIPA Performance score for the renewable educational interpreter license be set at 3.3 beginning July 1, 2019, and be set at 3.5 beginning July 1, 2020.

  • For EIPA Performance assessments taken on or before June 30, 2019, we will accept the 3.0 passing score.
  • For EIPA Performance assessments taken between July 1, 2019, and June 30, 2020, will need to post a 3.3 or better for renewal.
  • For EIPA Performance assessments taken on or after July 1, 2020, will need to post a 3.5 or better for renewal.

An applicant must apply for renewal of their educational interpreter license in ELO – see https://dpi.wi.gov/tepdl/elo/other/renewals. Applications for renewal are accepted as early as January of the year the license is to expire, but not earlier. The rewrite of Wisconsin Administrative Code PI 34 has been approved went into effect August 1, 2018. You can find a link to the updated rule here: https://dpi.wi.gov/tepdl/programs/wisconsin-quality-educator-initiative If your license expires June 30, 2019 or earlier and your application is submitted prior to June 30, 2019 you are eligible to use renewal requirements under the old PI 34.34 (3) or the new PI 34.086 If your license expires after June 30, 2019 or if you submit an application after June 30, 2019 you are required to follow the renewal requirements under the new PI 34.086.
