The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction has adopted a new, redesigned organizational structure to better serve students, educators, and communities statewide.
This reorganization is one part of our broader strategic plan and reflects a commitment to being more responsive, effective, and aligned across the agency.

We’re focused on four priorities as part of our strategic plan:
- Innovative Education: Every learner is engaged, challenged, and seen.
- Educator Recruitment & Retention: Building and retaining strong, stable staff in every school and library.
- Mental Health: Support for students and staff, because learning can’t happen without wellness.
- A Modernized DPI: Clear, helpful and responsive in all we do.
Why Now?
Over the span of two years, we listened to voices across the state: educators, families, students and community leaders. The feedback that we heard helped shape a plan that is rooted in better meeting the needs of Wisconsin. This reorganization helps us deliver faster, more efficient, user-friendly support.
What It Means for You
This change is about much more than internal structure. It’s about impact. We’re holding ourselves accountable to serve you better – whether you’re in a classroom, a school district office, a library, or at home.
Moving Forward
Our reorganization is just the beginning. We’re committed to acting with urgency, clarity, and heart – so every child, educator, and family feels the impact. Let’s move forward – together.
