What is the role of Educator Effectiveness under the new license structure?

State Budget Licensure Changes

Important NoticeEducators who hold a Professional or Master Educator license that was supposed to expire on June 30, 2018, DO NOT NEED TO APPLY to renew their license with credits or a PDP.  The state budget has removed the expiration dates from these licenses, and we are working to have license lookup reflect that.

Please visit the Latest Licensing News blog for information on the state budget's impact on licensure. All available information has been posted to the Latest Licensing News blog. Please Note: the first post relating to the new license rules was written September 22nd.

2011 Wisconsin Act 166 mandates all public school districts and 2R charter schools to use the WI Educator Effectiveness (EE) System to evaluate the performance of teachers and principals. Districts and 2R charters may decide locally the appropriate evaluation processes for staff whose roles do not include planning for, delivering, and managing an instructional environment (see EE Flowchart). For more information about the WI Educator Effectiveness System, see: https://dpi.wi.gov/ee

Educator Effectiveness processes are not tied to WI license renewal and are not included as acceptable professional development that may be submitted for license renewal.
