The DPI is currently seeking applicants for an Assistant Director position for the Teacher Education/Professional Development/Licensing team within the Division of Academic Excellence. This position is located at 125 South Webster Street in Madison, WI.

Job Duties:   

This position assists, in cooperation with other agency directors, in the development and implementation of program policy and budget affecting educator preparation, licensing, and educator development in the state. This position is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating and directing responsibilities related to the program approval process for Wisconsin educator preparation programs; providing leadership with the implementation of educator performance assessments within the program approval process; providing leadership in managing the license application and renewal processes; providing leadership with development and implementation of emerging educator preparation licensure pathways; and managing the supervision, coordination, and direction of the work of TEPDL staff. Other responsibilities include interpreting state and federal legislation affecting educator preparation and licensing; collaborating on policies, procedures, and processes for licensing and the online license application system; and maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders in order to coordinate the necessary state and federal program compliance and monitoring responsibilities.

A minimally qualified applicant must have experience with:

  • Directing, coordinating and/or prioritizing work activities
  • Interpreting state and/or federal laws/regulations
  • Educator preparation programs and/or professional development and licensing
  • Utilizing team building techniques
  • Planning, coordinating and/or managing programs
