Michael Dennison has supported historically underserved populations through government-funded education and library programs since joining the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) in 2012. Michael began as a member of the Title I and School Support team working on the Achievement Gap Reduction state aid program, School Improvement Grants, compliance with the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, EDFacts and Consolidated State Performance Reporting, and WISEgrants support through 2018.

Michael then joined the Library Services Team, serving public libraries and public library systems as the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Coordinator and State Data Coordinator. Michael’s work included administering compliance requirements and state aid payments for public library systems, budget planning and coordination of the federal LSTA grant funding, annual report data collection, reporting the annual report data to the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Public Libraries Survey, and promoting the use and understanding of data in decision-making.

Since 2021, Michael has administered Wisconsin’s $2.4 billion stimulus grant funding to local educational agencies through policy creation, training, providing technical assistance, and reviewing budget expenditures and performance data.

Michael returns to the Library Services Team to facilitate resource sharing and improve access to library resources by supporting your library and patrons with your ILL questions, concerns, and training needs.
