The DPI Library Services Team wishes to recognize all our librarians and library staff as we celebrate National Library Workers Day. This year's National Library Week, as proclaimed by State Superintendent Jill Underly, comes at a time of uncertainty with federal funding in question and its effect on libraries. Despite these difficult days, we thank you for your daily committment to your communities ensuring they have what they need to foster a lifetime of learning.
Today's post includes a message from Library Services Team Director Ben Miller to directors released earlier today, as well as the State Superintendent Underly's guest column published in the Capital Times. Please click on the links below to view their messages.
State Superintendent Underly acknowledges the bittersweet feeling celebrating our public and school libraries while the future of federal funding is at risk. Please click, "Amid federal threats, we must protect our public libraries" to read more.
In addition, Miller's message to library system and local library directors recognized National Library Workers Day and gave an update on the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the funding IMLS provides. Please read the DPI bulletin for more information.
