October is Cyber Security Awareness month to highlight the work state government does to protect Wisconsin’s infrastructure and to educate Wisconsin residents about how to be safe online and how to protect themselves from things such as malware, identify theft and data breaches.
The Wisconsin Digital Archives provides access to the strategies state government has in place to protect our state’s infrastructure. Click on the following links to view the strategies:

Additional resources about cyber security awareness are available directly through state agency websites:
- Ready Wisconsin, part of the Wisconsin Emergency Management Team, has a webpage dedicated to cyber security and safety. Read reports and newsletters and listen to audio and video clips all designed to give you information on how to be cyber savvy.
- The Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection has identity theft and privacy protection fact sheets on their website that are intended to be a starting point for helpful hints and answers to frequently asked questions. The information is in both English and Spanish and there is contact information available to get additional help or to file a complaint.
- The Department of Justice provides online safety resources and tips for adults, teens, and children. There is information about smartphone, social media, and internet safety.
