Public Library System Redesign (PLSR) Advisory Input

Friday, March 26, 2021

Implementation efforts for the Public Library System Redesign (PLSR) recommendations are moving forward. An important part of our efforts to implement the recommendations is ensuring there are ways for the library community to provide ongoing feedback as well as having the ability to use different feedback loops already built into our project work.

The type of input that we need to move forward with our implementation work varies for each recommendation and can also vary for each phase of implementation work for each recommendation. Some of the needs we have for input can be more informal, one-time information gathering we do by connecting to an existing group that is related to the work we are doing. In some instances, we need to form an advisory group that we may use for feedback and input for a defined period of time.

When the need arises to identify those who can provide input to help our PLSR implementation work, Library Services team members work deliberately to include voices across race, gender, ethnicity, language, ability, sexual orientation, background, and organizational role. We also factor in location in the state, which includes both regional representation and communities of different sizes. As we move forward, we will work to improve our communication to the library community to let people know when we may have an upcoming need for user and/or expert advisory input and are looking for volunteers.

As always, if you ever have a question or any feedback related to any of the PLSR recommendations, please contact us at DPI-PLSR@dpi.wi.gov. Since the recommendations were delivered to the Library Services team to implement with COLAND providing advisory support, all current information, along with key resources from the PLSR project can be found here: https://dpi.wi.gov/coland/plsr-update. The PLSR project website, plsr.info, no longer exists. All content from that site was provided to DPI as part of state records retention for the PLSR project.
