Empowering Lifelong Learning: AI Guidance for Enhancing K12 & Library Education – an update from the DPI

In this presentation, Monica Treptow & Chris Baker will offer an introduction and overview of "Empowering Lifelong Learning: AI Guidance for Enhancing K12 and Library Education". Attendees will learn about the development and coordination of the DPI's "AI Workgroup," a cross-agency collective of specialists belonging to different subject areas, as they met over a nine-month period to create Wisconsin's first draft of AI guidance. The document shares research, explores usage of AI within the educational field, and ideates on best practices and guidelines to consider when contextualizing AI in different settings. Monica and Chris will also offer insights about using the guidance in practice – and what AI plans the state has looking to the future.
