Updates to Unemployment Insurance Portal

Thursday, March 25, 2021

The WI Department of Workforce Development (DWD) is streamlining the process to initiate and make unemployment claims. This info might help you help a patron or two.

Starting March 30, 2021, DWD’s Division of Unemployment Insurance (UI) will be making exciting changes with new portal features on the UI Home page for claimants’ ease and convenience in filing their unemployment.

Some of the user-friendly items will be a ‘Message Center’ for claimants to upload documents requested by UI, receive secure messages from UI claims specialist and/or adjudicators, and receive text notifications when there is a new message in a claimant’s mailbox.

In addition, finding information about a person’s claim status will be simpler to locate. Claimant’s will also have access to their UI Summary with important information about payment, issues and determinations, appeals and any overpayments and penalties.

These improvements with quick link icons along with a new search feature will provide for an easy and quick navigation of the UI Home page for claimants.

Ultimately, these new features/changes should reduce the amount of assistance claimants will need to file their unemployment.
