This is the department’s decision regarding that complaint. The issue is whether the district, during the 2007-2008 school year, properly provided special education services to a student with a disability during his court-ordered placement in juvenile detention located in the district.

On July 13, 2005, the Department of Public Instruction received a complaint under state and federal special education law from XXXXX against the West Bend School District. This is the department's decision regarding that complaint. The issue is whether the district properly responded to a teacher's referral in April 2005 for a special education evaluation of a student.

The issues are whether the district, during the 2010-2011 school year, properly implemented the student’s individualized education program (IEP) regarding the use of assistive technology and addressing annual goals related to peer interaction and properly determined placement.
