Spotlight on Data: 2027 WISE Conference Planning: Attendee Voice

The 2026 WISEdata Conference occurred a short three months ago, and DPI Partner Support is already preparing for the 2027 WISEdata Conference.

Your input matters! We make every attempt to design our conference based on what you need and want. This survey includes questions about session content, food options, and logistics. This survey closes Friday, July 24, 2026.

New District Administrators & District Security Administrators (DSA)

DPI has a webpage and a bi-weekly email – just for you! The New District Administrator webpage features a series of data topics and deadlines important to your role. The most current version of the bi-weekly EdLeaders Dispatch email is available from the left-side menu, and there is also a chronological archive of occasionally sent high priority or time sensitive emails from State Superintendent Jill Underly or Deputy State Superintendent for your reference.

The District Security Administrator, or DSA, has an important role with a number of keystone responsibilities. The person in this role should have detailed knowledge of school/district security, of data functions throughout the local education agency, and of DPI’s WISE applications.

DPI recommends the DSA role be limited to one or two DSAs per agency.

If desired, the DSA can delegate role assignments and revocations to an Application Administrator within WISEsecure. Application Administrator roles are app-specific and optional. Depending on the district or school workflow, it may be helpful to assign an Application Administrator to some apps and not others.

The District Administrator or Choice Administrator has several responsibilities regarding student data privacy and confidentiality. To start, the District Administrator, Choice Administrator, or their designee, will be set up as the District Security Administrator (DSA). The DSA is responsible for:

reviewing which personnel have access to DPI applications,
assigning Application Administrators if desired,
conscientious offboarding to remove access from staff who have left, and
the agency's data privacy policies required under §118.125(2).

App & Web Feature: WISEhome Transition to MyWisconsin ID

The DPI is upgrading our authentication systems, transitioning from Web Access Management System (WAMS) to alternate options from June-September 2026.

Here’s a timeline of events for our transition:

Now: If you already sign in with Google, you can keep signing in with Google. As of today, June 16, you can start signing in to WISEhome with MyWisconsin ID
As soon as possible: Users who previously signed in with WAMS need to transition to MyWisconsin ID or Google sign-in to ensure a smooth transition experience.
September 30, 2026: WAMS will be deactivated for WISEhome.
October 1, 2026: Google and MyWisconsin ID will be the only login options.

If you currently log in to WISEhome with WAMS and need further instruction to guide you through the transition to signing in with MyWisconsin ID or Google, visit the “WAMS Transition” section of the WISEhome landing page.

If you are a State of Wisconsin employee, please create a MyWisconsin ID with your personal email address to access your benefits (i.e., ETF), and use your work email address to create the MyWisconsin ID that you will use to log in to WISEhome.

DPI Website Upgrade to Drupal 10 is Complete!

After months of planning and weeks of preparing, our Department of Public Instruction (DPI) website is fully upgraded! Our website content is designed and worded to be as useful, current, and digestible as possible. We have worked hard, reviewing, collaborating, and testing, to ensure we have posted everything an LEA could need.

Our upgrade includes a new mega menu at the top of the page, streamlined left-side menus, and more robust accessibility features to support users who access our website using assistive technology.

If you are a person who bookmarks your favorite DPI webpages, those bookmarks will still take you to those pages. Another new feature is that teams responsible for webpage content are listed on each page. So, if you’re looking for a page you can’t find, reach out to the team responsible for a ‘close but not quite’ webpage, and a friendly DPI staff member can help you locate your desired content.

Even though the website is live, we continue to fine-tune the content and features. We appreciate your grace and communication if you encounter something that needs some attention or doesn’t function quite right.

Data Quality Outreach: Year-End Close-Out with the Annual Tasks Checklist Webpage

At the end of each school year, you need to complete several important tasks to prepare year-end data for the December Student Snapshot. Ideally, this year-end data is reviewed, corrected, and in good shape for snapshot before enrollments begin again for the new school year.

Partner Support begins making data quality outreach calls in August to help LEAs with this year-end data: how to prioritize which data from what school years and what data is safe to ignore during these months.

The Annual Tasks Checklist webpage, School Year Close-Out Tasks section provides guidance for these data.

Public schools can also use WISEdash for Districts as another tool for reviewing year end data.

To understand the impact of submitting this data correctly, remember that year-end snapshot data is collected from WISEdash (i.e., the data warehouse).

Once DPI has taken a snapshot, the data in that report is static, certified and final. No changes can be made to the snapshot data.

All data, including any data that was wrong in the snapshot, should be continuously corrected data in your SIS. Data corrected in your SIS pushes into WISEdata Portal. Data that appears in WISEdata Portal ‘today’ will display in WISEdash ‘tomorrow.’

While changes made in your SIS cannot change the previous snapshot, these continuous data corrections create the most accurate data for trend comparisons in WISEdash.
