Secure Access File Exchange (SAFE) FAQ

General Questions

What is SAFE?

SAFE—the Secure Access File Exchange—is a secure tool developed by DPI to provide secure, or confidential, data and reports to districts. For more information, visit the SAFE page.

Where do I log in to SAFE?

You log in to SAFE through WISEhome just like you do for other secure applications such as WISEdash for Districts, School Directory, and WISEsecure.

I am the district security administrator for my district. How do I know what role I should assign to a user of SAFE?

To determine which role is appropriate for each user, visit the SAFE section of the WISEsecure Roles list. Remember that all reports available through SAFE are confidential and should only be made available to authorized personnel.

Access Questions

How do I know if I have access to SAFE?

If you have been granted access to SAFE, you will see the Secure Access File Exchange listed on the WISEhome landing page after you log in using your WAMS ID and password. For more information on our security model and how to get access please visit the WISEhome and WISEsecure Login Information page.

I have a WAMS ID but have been unable to access SAFE. Why?
If you have a WAMS ID but cannot log in to WISEhome or you do not see SAFE in the list of applications once you have logged in to WISEhome, you may not yet have been given access to SAFE. To request access to SAFE, follow the instructions in the Request Access to a WISE Application section of the WISEhome and WISEsecure Login Information page. If you would like to request a specific user role, you can include this in the details of your request. Review the SAFE section of the WISEsecure user roles page.
I want to use ASM to give myself and/or others in my district access to SAFE. How do I do this?
Follow the steps on the Assign Access to WISEhome Applications page to assign application administrators and user roles across the applications in WISEhome.
I am a district superintendent or district security administrator. How do I give access to SAFE for a staff member that isn’t currently using any secure tools (SAFE, WISEdash for Districts, or ASM)?
Visit Assign Access to WISEhome Applications to review the different options available.
