What is WISEhome?
WISEhome allows authorized users to access DPI secure web applications and tools from one location. WISEhome is your WISE application menu. DPI controls WISEhome, which provides access to approved users to DPI’s collection of secure applications.
If you are a District Security Administrator (DSA), Choice Administrator, or Application Administrator seeking information about WISEsecure instead of WISEhome, visit the WISEsecure page.
If you are a brand new user, might not see any applications. Use the ‘Request Access’ tab from the top (purple) banner on WISEhome to request access to the applications you need. You can also use the ‘App Request Status’ to see the status of your requests to those applications.
To log in to WISEhome, you first need one of the following:
- a Google account associated with a district email address (preferred when available)
- a WAMS ID (until June 30th, 2026)
- a MyWisconsin ID (starting on July 1, 2026)
Your agency's administrator can then grant you access to an application through the WISEsecure system.
Request Access to a WISE Application
- Request Access to a WISE Application - Step 1: Log In
-
1. Log in to WISEhome using your WAMS ID or your Enterprise Google account.
To gain access to a DPI web application, you will need to request access through WISEhome. All users can gain access to these DPI tools, but the steps to do so are different, depending on your email type and if you have ever created a WAMS account or not. Select the option below that best describes your situation and follow the steps provided.
I am a brand-new user and I do not have (or I do not know if I have) a valid Enterprise Google account AND I have never created a WAMS or MyWisconsin ID account before.
First, check with your school/district’s IT department to officially determine if the email address provided to you is an Enterprise Google account. If your school/district does not have an Enterprise Google account, then you can create a WAMS account to log in to WISEhome until June 30, 2026.- To obtain a WAMS ID, visit the section below on Creating your Wisconsin Access Management System (WAMS) Account.
- If you have a verified Enterprise Google account, it is not necessary for you to create a WAMS account or a WAMS ID.
- If this is your first-ever login, be aware of the Google Single-Sign on aspect for first-time logins.
- Request Access to a WISE Application - Step 2: Request Access
-
In WISEhome, go to the Request Access tab at the top of the screen.

- Request Access to a WISE Application - Step 3: Customer Access Form
-
3. On the Customer Request Access form, fill out the required fields, including your District, which schools within that district you need access for, Job Title, and the Applications you’re requesting access to. You can also include Comments to explain why you need access. Once you fill out the form, click Request Access.

- Request Access to a WISE Application - Step 4: Check Email for Notification
-
4. Once you’ve submitted an access request, you can check the status of your request by going to the App Request Status page. Search for pending access requests by Request Date, Organization/Suborganization, Application, or Role. You'll be notified by email and on the App Request Status page when your request is approved or denied.
Transition from WAMS to MyWisconsin ID
After June 30, 2026, WAMS will be discontinued. The below options are available for users to sign in after June 30, 2026:
- Sign in with Google (preferred when available)
- Sign in with MyWisconsin ID (available to access DPI applications from June 2026, exact date TBD)
DPI highly recommends transitioning from WAMS to MyWisconsin ID or to signing in with Google at your earliest convenience.
If you already have a WAMS account with your district email address, use the same email address with your new sign-in method to retain your existing user roles for DPI applications.
If your WAMS account used a different email address than your current school/district email address, then you can follow the steps above to request access to the DPI applications you need in your current role.
Sign in with Google (preferred when available)
All DPI applications that you access through WISEhome allow you to sign in with Google if you have:
- an enterprise Google account
and
- an email address under this enterprise account that is individual to you
What is an enterprise Google account?
An enterprise Google account means that your agency/school/district manages this Google account for your entire organization. A personal Google email address is not part of an enterprise Google account.
How do I know if the email address is individual to me?
An email address is individual to you if you are the only person who can use it. If you changed organizations, your organization would deactivate this email address.
- For example, FirstName.LastName@SchoolName.org is an individual email address under an enterprise Google account.
- By contrast, secretary@SchoolName.org or principal@SchoolName.org is not individual to you, because if you changed jobs, your organization would keep this email address active.
Set up Google Sign-In
- From the left-side menu, click Log in to WISEhome apps.
- Click Sign in with Google.
- If the page directs you to indicate which account to use, notice whether the suggested account is your Google enterprise account.
- If the suggested account is your personal email address, click Use another account.

Once you log in to WISEhome, the applications to which you have access are listed and you can click any available application.
Sign in with MyWisconsin ID (June 2026, exact date to be determined)
The state of Wisconsin and DPI are committed to providing secure access to systems.
As part of this commitment, DPI (along with all other state agencies) is planning a significant upgrade to authentication systems, transitioning from the current Web Access Management Systems (WAMS) platform to the Wisconsin Department of Administration's new, state-of-the-art MyWisconsin ID system. WAMS was built with older technology. MyWisconsin ID uses modern authentication that provides better functionality and security.
Starting on July 1, 2026, if you have previously accessed DPI applications using a WAMS ID and you do not have a Google enterprise account at your school or district to sign in with Google, you will need a MyWisconsin ID. The MyWisconsin ID is person-specific; it is not a facility or company ID. You may already have a MyWisconsin ID associated with your personal email address due to interactions with other state agencies. To access DPI applications, associate your MyWisconsin ID with your work email address.
Create a MyWisconsin ID by following the steps with screenshots on the MyWisconsin ID Self-Registration webpage.
-
Create a MyWisconsin ID
-
- Visit the MyWisconsin ID Self-Registration webpage.
- Follow the steps to create your login.
- Use your school or district email address.
- If you previously had a WAMS account with your current work email address through your school/district, use that email address to retain the same user roles for DPI applications.
- MyWisconsin ID requires multi-factor authentication (MFA). Set up your authentication method of choice as part of your account creation.
- You must set up at least one method of MFA.
- Use your school or district email address.
-
Get Help with MyWisconsin ID
-
DPI does not manage MyWisconsin ID. This means submitting a help ticket to the WISE Partner Support team will not resolve any issues with your account.
If you have an issue related to your MyWisconsin ID account, unrelated to a WISE application, visit the MyWisconsin ID Resources webpage. This webpage includes:
- steps to create your MyWisconsin ID
- options to manage your account

WAMS General Information

WAMS stands for Web Access Management System. WAMS is a login portal
that is managed by the State of Wisconsin. DPI will retire WAMS login June 30, 2026. Please review the WAMS transition section above for alternative login options. If you work at a school or district where you have a Google enterprise (work) account, DPI recommends signing in with Google instead of creating a WAMS account, because the Google login option will remain in place.
Each state agency has secure applications that people can use to access specific information. DPI has many applications available, including, but not limited to:
- all of our WISE applications (like WISEdata portal, WISEdash, WISEgrants, etc.),
- the Wisconsin School Directory Management Portal, and
- Ed-Fi Credential.
WAMS allows people to create Wisconsin User IDs and passwords. Wisconsin User ID and password is the official name of these credentials, and this is what we are referring to when we say, “a WAMS ID.” A WAMS ID allows users to access DPI’s secure applications, as well as applications from any other State of Wisconsin department agency.
For accessing DPI applications, however, the WAMS login credentials (username and password) have a few special requirements:
- A WAMS ID alone does not give users automatic access to WISEhome or the applications and tools available through WISEhome. The person in your school/district who has the role of District Security Administrator (DSA) needs to grant your authorization to use DPI’s secure applications and tools.
- The email address on the WAMS account should be your district email address.
- Provide the same email address used to set up your WAMS account for all other DPI applications you access (i.e., WISEid, WISEadmin). If the same email isn’t used, DPI can still communicate to you, but you’ll need to check multiple inboxes/email accounts.
-
Create a Wisconsin Access Management System (WAMS) Account
-
You can use a WAMS account to sign in to WISEhome until June 30, 2026.

- Click Accept to proceed.
- On the Self-Registration form, complete the following Profile Information fields:
- First Name,
- Last Name,
- Telephone number, and
- Email Address.
- The four items shown are the only required fields. All other information is optional.
- Account Information--Create your User ID, which can be between 5-20 alphanumeric characters.

- The secret answer is case and character sensitive. Do NOT use the characters ampersand, apostrophe, quote, or slash in the secret question or answer. The answer to your question should be something that does not change over time and is not easily guessed.
- The secret question and answer are used if you forget your password and/or User ID. With a well-chosen question and answer, the Department of Administrator's (DOA) automated account recovery process will allow you to continue to use your account without needing to contact the help desk.
- Click Submit.
- Verify your email address is correct and/or correct any errors.
- Click OK.

- Click Log out.
- Go to your email account where you should have received, or will generally receive within 10 minutes, an email from WAMS@wisconsin.gov. If you do NOT receive the email, check with your technology department or individual assigned to these duties, as possibly your district's spam filter is not allowing the email to reach you.
- Open the email and click the web link located in the third paragraph.
- If you receive the message "cannot access", you will need to type the entire link shown in the email.
- You should be at a screen titled Account Activation - Final Step. Enter your WAMS User ID and password, and then click Log in.
- You should see Self-Registration, your name, and the message beginning "Congratulations! You have successfully created and activated your account..."
- Click Log out.
After you have finished the process of creating your WAMS ID, you will need to wait at least one hour before giving your WAMS ID to your DSA to assign rights for use in any of the WISE applications.
This WAMS account is your own personal account for doing business with the State of Wisconsin and should go with you wherever your future may take you.
All DPI WISEhome applications allow for a single sign-on using Google, which is an alternative log in method. Please read these details about the Google Single Sign-On process.

Updating WAMS Account When Changing Districts
-
If you already have a WAMS account and you are starting work at a new Wisconsin school district, you need to either update your WAMS account to use your new district email address or create a new WAMS account at your new district.
You should not use your old district email address for your new district. Your new district will assign access using your new email address. It is also very helpful for you to ask your prior district’s security administrator (DSA) to remove your old user roles.
If you are unable to access your WAMS account click the Account Recovery link in the WAMS application and follow those instructions.

- Why do I need a Web Access Management System (WAMS), also known as a Wisconsin User ID?
System and Data Security
Each year, all Wisconsin school districts collect information about their students, staff, and courses based on federal and state requirements. They submit these data sets to the Department of Public Instruction (DPI), which stores the data sets in the data warehouse, and makes them available in both secure and redacted platforms.
To view and work with student data, users must have the appropriate security for a WISE application. Each user accessing any of the secure WISE applications needs either a Google Enterprise account to use the Google Single Sign-On, or a WAMS ID to log in to the various WISE applications. Users enter their credentials (i.e., username and password) via WISEhome, a portal that allows authorized users to access its applications and tools in one location.
