On February 10, 2010, the Department of Public Instruction received a complaint under state and federal special education law from XXXXX against the Chequamegon School District. This is the departments decision regarding that complaint. The issues are whether the district, during the 2009-10 school year, properly implemented the students individualized education program (IEP) regarding her ability to call her mother.
The student was initially determined eligible for special education on November 5, 2009. The students IEP permitted the student to call her mother during the school day. On January 6, 2010, a school district employee, unaware of the provisions of the students IEP, said the student could not call home. The district employee was then informed by other district employees of the IEP provision, and the student was allowed to call home. The district properly implemented the students IEP regarding her ability to call her mother.
This concludes our review of this complaint, which we are closing.
