Title I Parent and Family Engagement

illustration of adult and child readingSection 1116 of the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA) (20 USC §6318) requires Districts and schools to engage parents and family members of children served in Title I programs.

Through Title I, the U.S. Department of Education provides funding for districts and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards. Engaging with parents, families and communities is one important way schools can narrow gaps of opportunity or achievement and help all children learn and succeed.
